Police investigating possible attempted abduction in Marion

MARION, Ohio - Police in Marion are investigating a report of a possible attempted abduction.

Police said a white man in a black SUV approached two elementary aged students in the area of Bradford and Franklin Streets around 8 a.m. Thursday.

When he pulled up, he motioned for the students to come over to the SUV.

One of the children ran away while the other continued to back up while the man walked toward the child.

The second child eventually ran away.

Police said both children are safe and the man never touched them.

Marion City Schools was notified and the district sent information to parents.

Police said additional resources will be devoted to the schools in the coming days while the investigation continues.

Police said they are looking into what the man's motivation was to approach the children.
