COLUMBUS - Early Friday morning in south Linden, Columbus Police Officer Ken Bozeman saw a dog getting kicked and then intervened.

The person told the officer that they were afraid of getting bitten by the dog, who was a stray that went around the neighborhood begging for food.

While trying to care for the dog, Officer Bozeman noticed the dog had frozen mud caked in its fur. He took the dog with him back to the substation where he cleaned him up and fed him.

Bozeman’s daughter recently lost her dog of seven years.

The officer decided to adopt the stray and says he will surprise his daughter when she gets out of school today.
