18-month-old dies after two-vehicle car crash in Scioto County

WEST PORTSMOUTH -- The Portsmouth Post of The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash that left a baby dead.

The crash happened Tuesday just after 7 p.m.on State Route 73 just north of Galena Pike in Scioto County.

According to patrol, a 2004 Pontiac Vibe traveling southbound drove left of center and struck a 2005 Ford Freestar head-on.

The driver of the Vibe, 25-year-old Brandon Davis, was taken to a hospital and is expected to be OK.

Brooklyn Moore, a front seat passenger in Davis' vehicle, was flown to a hospital in critical condition.

Moore's daughter, 18-month-old Aerilyn J. Lowe, was taken to the hospital but later died from her injuries.

Davis and Moore were not wearing seatbelts but the child was restrained in a car seat.

The driver and three children in the Freestar were taken to hospitals and are all expected to be OK. They were all wearing seatbelts.

According to patrol, drugs and alcohol are believed to be a factor in the car crash. The crash remains under investigation.
